Globachem has in recent years developed a growing awareness of the crucial role of Cybersecurity Awareness and strengthening their "Human Firewall" (the workforce) in the fight against cyber threats. They realised that it is not a question of and/or an organisation faces cyber attacks, but rather when.
For Philippe Mielnik, IT Manager at Globachem, this insight prompted him to invest in a strategic awareness programme. In collaboration with VanRoey and KnowBe4, a programme was launched in early 2021 to train employees and better arm them against social engineering attacks. This proactive approach underlines Globachem's commitment to continuously keeping its team and organisation resilient against digital threats.
Why VanRoey and KnowBe4
"We deliberately chose VanRoey as a partner because of their proven expertise in Cybersecurity" says IT Manager, Philippe Mielnik.
The choice of the managed formula makes it easy for Globachem to be completely unburdened. The programme is continuously adjusted by experts at VanRoey in consultation with Globachem.
KnowBe4 was selected because of several reasons:
- Extensive knowledge library: KnowBe4 offers a wealth of training materials to match the various threats facing businesses today
- Multilingualism: As Globachem employs several nationalities, the availability of training in various languages was a crucial factor.
- Insightful reporting: KnowBe4's dashboard allows detailed data on employee behaviour to be analysed and reported, which is essential for continuous programme improvement.
What does such a Cybersecurity Awareness Programme look like?
- Annual survey: At the beginning of each year, a survey is conducted among employees to determine focus points for the new year
- Online courses: Every six weeks, employees attend mandatory training sessions to keep them alert to the latest threats
- Ethical phishing mails: At regular intervals, employees are tested via AI-driven phishing attacks, simulating realistic scenarios
- Informative posters: Posters are put up in the workplace reminding employees of potential hazards, how to recognise them and where to report them.
- Phish-Alert Button: A handy feature in Outlook allows employees to quickly and easily report suspicious e-mails to IT.
- Quarterly report: The IT department shares the results of the programme with the entire company on a quarterly basis, keeping everyone informed of progress, dangers and successes.
Through VanRoey's managed service, a new campaign is set up every quarter by a VanRoey expert, tailored to Globachem's needs and feedback. Each campaign is continuously monitored and improved where necessary and results are discussed with the customer at the end of each quarter. This approach ensures that the programme always remains up to date, relevant and effective.
Strong "Human Firewall" as ultimate result of the programme
The results of this programme are evident:
- Reinforced "Human Firewall": The number of employees opening or clicking on rogue e-mails decreased significantly, a clear indication of increased alertness and knowledge within the team.
- Positive feedback on training content:A change in mentality always has some legs to it. After consistently attending the trainings, employees show themselves positive about the content and practicality of the lessons. Privately, employees also discover the benefits of KnowBe4 training courses.
- Positive impact on organisation: The increased protection against digital threats has resulted in no significant incidents since rolling out this awareness programme. The results highlight the power of investing in Cybersecurity Awareness and the positive impact it has on the organisation.
