MIL-STD-810G: marketers love it
Unpacking with a military standard comes naturally nicely to the user. Almost all manufacturers refer to it, but not everyone tests at the same level. Please note that the MIL-STD-810G standard includes a very extensive set of tests: drop tests, vibration tests, dust-penetration tests, altitude tests, temperature tests, humidity tests, radiation tests, ... We can go on like this. Different categories and procedures have also been determined for many tests. Dropping a device 26 times on all possible sides and corners has a different effect than one fall on the legs. To say it's a complex fact.
Marketers are quick to swing the MIL-STD-810G standard when a device has only passed a limited set of tests. The many tests that the device does not pass are usually kept quiet in all languages. HP is an exception. They are very transparent about the test results of their devices. They make them publicly available.
HP Elite and Z-Book clients score high on the MIL-STD-810G
All HP clients are subjected to the MIL-STD-810G tests to a greater or lesser extent. In particular the business appliances from the Elite and Z-Book range leave the competition far behind. There is also a clear difference between the different Gx models. As well in the Elite as in the Z-Book range, the G4-6 models perform better on shock tests than the G1-3 models. HP does not abuse these test results, but it does substantiate the soundness of its products. The fact that few other manufacturers are able to provide similar results shows that HP is far ahead of the curve in this area.
Don't be fooled! Know that the MIL-STD-810G standard includes a very extensive set of tests and that not all manufacturers communicate transparently about the tests their devices undergo. At HP, you know very well what you get for your money.
